Gimme Some Tooth?

On November 5th 2011, a Canadian dentist by the name of Michael Zuk bought a tooth belonging to the late John Lennon. The tooth was auctioned off for £19,500 in Stockport, England and Dr. Zuk put it on display at his practise in Alberta, Canada. Zuk later claimed he wanted to clone John Lennon using the DNA from his tooth.

Lennon gave the molar tooth, complete with cavity to his housekeeper after a trip to the dentist; he told her to get rid of it or give it to her daughter as a souvenir.

"...bring someone back from history ... would be the ultimate expression of science - I knew it was a bit of a long shot, but still not terribly unlikely that a person could get some genetic material from the tooth."
