UK single release: Help!

Help! was released as a single in the UK on July 23rd 1965, four days after its US release. The song was written by John Lennon and was the title for the film of the same name.

Lennon described the song as subconsciously crying out for help, with all the mania surrounding the Beatles and their hectic career. Help! topped the UK singles chart just as It did in the US.

As with the US release, Paul McCartney's I'm Down was chosen as the B-side.
