The Beatles decide to film Magical Mystery Tour
On September 1st 1967, following the tragic death of Beatles' manager Brian Epstein, the band got together at Paul McCartney's house in St. John's Wood to discuss their future. There was a planned trip to go to India and study transcendental meditation with Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, having listened to his talks in Bangor one week before.
McCartney felt the band should hold off going to India and focus their efforts on Magical Mystery Tour, a film concept that Paul came up with. At this meeting he discussed the various segments of the film with a rough sketch he drew; encouraging everyone to write their own music for a particular piece.
The band settled on postponing their trip to India in favour of working on Magical Mystery Tour. All they needed now was a big yellow bus, lots of actors, equipment and a route to take the bus on.
