Paramount Theatre, New York City

On September 20th 1964, The Beatles American tour was over and the band rounded it off with a charity gig at the Paramount Theatre, New York City.

"They loved going to New York, when we stayed at the Delmonico Hotel, flying by helicopter into Forest Hills, the great tennis stadium. Those New York dates were exciting. They did enjoy that excitement, the city lights, the pace of events. Or so it seemed to me." - Derek Taylor

The Beatles charged no fee for playing and the 3,682 people who attended paid $100 per ticket, with proceeds going to the United Cerebral Palsy foundation in New York. The police outside had their hands full trying to keep 100,000 frenzied fans in check. Inside, Ed Sullivan paid a backstage visit to the group.

After the show the Beatles stayed at the Riviera Hotel where they hung out with Bob Dylan.
