Cynthia Powell is born
Cynthia Powell was born in Blackpool, Lancashire on September 10th 1939. The first wife of John Lennon and mother of their son Julian, Powell grew up in Holyoke, in the Wirral Peninsula of Northwest England.
Cynthia was a budding young artist and at age 12 was accepted into Junior Art School. Later she enrolled in the Liverpool College of Art. It was there she met John Lennon who was also attending, and began a relationship with the turbulent young teen. After Powell became pregnant with Julian the couple were married on August 23rd 1962, at the Mount Pleasant register office in Liverpool.
On July 15th 1964 John bought Kenwood; a home in the Surrey town of Weybridge. It was there the couple lived with son Julian, until 1968 when John and Cynthia divorced.
