The Beatles awarded silver discs

On November 18th 1963, on what was supposed to be a day off from their 1963 Autumn Tour, the Beatles attended a ceremony at EMI House, London.  

The Fab Four were awarded a number of silver discs for their extraordinary sales of 1963. Chairman of EMI Sir Joseph Lockwood presented the band with silver discs for Please Please Me as well as the yet unreleased With the Beatles.

Producer George Martin then presented the group with a silver disc for sales of their Twist and Shout EP. They were also awarded another disc for sales of She Loves You

Afterwards the Beatles attended a cocktail party and lunch at an EMI House boardroom, which was attended by a number of EMI executives and special guests.
