Album facts: Live at the BBC
On November 30th 1994, The Beatles released Live at the BBC; a double disc set consisting of BBC radio recordings made between January of 1963 and May of 1965.
The album contains 56 songs, including 13 tracks of dialogue between The Beatles and various BBC radio presenters. It also features an early Lennon/McCartney composition called I'll Be On My Way, which hasn't been released on any other Beatles' album.
Most of the songs are cover versions of 50s and early 60s rock and roll music, which The Beatles had played at live shows long before the rise of Beatlemania.
Live at the BBC reached number one in the UK and number three in the US, selling more than 5 million copies in the first six weeks of its release.
On November 11th 2013, a remastered and repackaged version of the album was released, alongside a second volume of BBC recordings, titled On Air - Live at the BBC Volume 2.
