Yesterday and Today, certified gold

Yesterday and Today was certified gold by the RIAA on July 8th, 1966. The album is most notable for the controversy surrounding the album's original cover, which shows The Beatles donned in plastic dolls and raw meat. It quickly became known as the Butcher cover.

The original cover was quickly recalled and a cleaner image put forth for the album.
